Business Seminar: Hiring and Motivating the Four Current Generations
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI) at Saint Mary’s College will host a free business strategies seminar called “Hiring and Motivating the Four Current Generations” this Friday, November 9, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in room 145, Spes Unica Hall.

Tuition, Room and Board Rates for 2012-13 Announced
The Saint Mary’s College Board of Trustees recently approved a 3.9% increase in tuition, fees, room, and board for the 2012-13 academic year. “The College has worked hard to manage its costs in order to keep this increase to a minimum,” said Vice President for Finance and Administration Richard Speller in a letter to parents today.

Constitution Day Panel Discussion
On September 17, 1787, one of the most influential documents in the United States’ history was adopted into law. Each year, colleges around the country celebrate the U.S. Constitution on the anniversary of its ratification. A Constitution Day panel discussion will be held at Saint Mary's College on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 12 p.m. in Welsh Parlor of Haggar College Center (2nd floor).

Students on Their Efforts to Uplift Women (WNIT-TV)
Social work majors Monica Murphy '13 and Kelly Gutrich '15 talk about their efforts to uplift women on the WNIT-TV (PBS) program Experience Michiana. Murphy shares how she and another student developed the concept for a mobile application called "Beautiful You." It's designed for women and offers daily affirmations and encouragement. Gutrich talks about the upcoming "Love Your Body Week" that challenges media stereotypes of what a beautiful woman looks like.

Student Research Leads to Product That Detects Counterfeit Drugs (Obse...
Thanks to a Saint Mary’s chemistry professor, 13 of her students, a number of chemistry alumnae and counterparts at the University of Notre Dame, third-world countries may one day have an inexpensive way to test counterfeit malaria drugs that make people sicker. Research at the institutions has led to Paper Analytical Devices (PADs) that can determine whether a drug can help or hurt. A provisional patent application was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the group is working towards having the PADs patented.

South Bend Chamber Singers to Share “Music for a Sacred Space”
The South Bend Chamber Singers (SBCS) will close out the ensemble’s 23rd concert season with “Music for a Sacred Space” on Sunday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on the Saint Mary’s campus. The concert will include George Frideric Handel’s Dixit Dominus, James MacMillan’s Magnificat, and Petr Eben’s Prague Te Deum.

AfterMath: Careers Using a Math Degree
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science will host its annual AfterMath event on Sunday, October 28 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in room 105 of Science Hall. A panel of Saint Mary's math alumnae will talk about their careers in math-related fields. Alumnae presentations will be followed by questions and answers with the audience.
