Saint Mary's Serves

Began at 12:45 p.m. at Regina Hall

Our history reveals one of the most distinctive features of Holy Cross: a commitment to respond to the needs of the time. To carry this commitment forward we invited students, staff, faculty, alumnae, and neighbors to participate in Saint Mary's Serves, a community-wide service project, partnering with the Sisters of the Holy Cross, La Casa de Amistad, St. Margaret’s House, and the Sister Maura Brannick CSC Health Center. Participants were invited to bring their families as we gathered to celebrate 175 years, in the spirit of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and over 270 students, community members, sisters and guests signed in that day. The one hour and 75 minute service blitz began at 12:45 p.m. in Regina Hall and was full of energy, smiles, and fun.

It’s fitting to begin our commemoration of 175 years on the feast day of Blessed Basil Moreau, who played an important role in the establishment of our College. Moreau presented the vision of education that guides us as he exclaimed that "the mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart." On January 20, 2019 and estimated 350 people gathered at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, for a special mass that celebrated Blessed Basil Moreau and the lasting legacy of a Holy Cross education.

Moreau Dinner

As is tradition we also held our annual dinner honoring Blessed Basil Anthony Moreau CSC. Students, staff, faculty, and sisters were all invited to attend and shared a French inspired meal that celebrates and unites our vibrant campus community. Together, around 650 attendees dined and reflected on where we’ve been and took a moment to look forward to all that’s to come.
