Auditions for South Bend Chamber Singers The South Bend Chamber Singers (SBCS), the region’s premier vocal chamber ensemble, announces auditions for experienced singers from northern Indiana and southern Michigan for its 26th concert series, 2014-15. Auditions, which will be held Saturday-Friday, August 29 to September 5 will be held on camps. The South Bend Chamber Singers is an ensemble-in-residence at Saint Mary’s College. 2014 McMahon Aquinas Lecture Announced Saint Mary’s College is pleased to announce philosopher Eva Kittay, PhD, will offer this year’s McMahon Aquinas Lecture. Hooping It up for Girls Club (South Bend Tribune) A dozen local girls recently traded their backpacks for hula hoops in an effort to raise money for Girls Club at St. Margaret’s House, a day center for women and children in South Bend. Political Science Professor on State of the Union (WSBT Radio) Political science professor Sean Savage, a political analyst for WSBT radio, offers his critique of President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address on Tuesday. Savage called it a modest speech, though noting that the president introduced plans to sign executive orders to raise the minimum wage for federal contract workers and to create a new savings program for workers whose employers don't offer retirement plans.
