College Receives State Grant for Sexual Violence Prevention Education
Saint Mary’s College is proud to announce that its Belles Against Violence Office (BAVO) and Office of Student Involvement and Multicultural Services (SIMS) received a $10,000 grant from the End Violence Together specialty license plate, a new program established by the Indiana Coalition Against Sexual Assault (INCASA). BAVO and SIMS will use the grant to further develop efforts to educate and empower students at the women’s college on sexual violence prevention.

Theatre Student and Professor on This Week's Premiere of "The Misanthr...
Jennifer Vosters '16 and Mark Abram-Copenhaver, associate professor of theatre, are interviewed on WSBT-TV about this Wednesday's opening of "The Misanthrope." The play will tear down the "fourth wall" separating the actors and the audience, largely through the use of social media. It's a modern and fun twist on a 350-year-old script. #SMCmisanthrope.

Belles Tied for Third in Women's Sports Standings
FREELAND, Mich. - The fall standings for both the men's and women's all-sports standings were released by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association office this week. Saint Mary's is tied with Alma for third in the women's sports standings after the completion of the fall sports season.

College Sponsors House for Rebuilding Together
On Saturday, April 12, Saint Mary's College students, faculty, and staff will participate in Rebuilding Together, a community-driven effort to rehabilitate homes in South Bend. This year is the ninth consecutive year the College has been involved in the program. Around 50 Saint Mary’s volunteers will complete tasks such as painting, cleaning, raking, and planting at a home sponsored by the College.

Leadership Styles is Subject of THRIVE Talk
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI) at Saint Mary’s College and 1st Source Bank will co-host the next installment of the THRIVE seminar series titled, “Leadership Styles: Understanding Everyone’s Potential.” Psychologist Milene Jeffirs is the featured speaker. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Thursday, March 27 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in Stapleton Lounge of Le Mans Hall. A complimentary breakfast will be served.

Sister Simone Campbell, Leader of “Nuns on the Bus” Tour, to Speak...
The Saint Mary’s College Center for Spirituality will host Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, in a lecture series on the life and leadership of Catholic women religious. Sister Simone is an attorney, poet, and executive director of NETWORK, a national Catholic organization that advocates in Congress on issues of peace and justice. She will speak on “The Contemplative Call to Do Justice” on Tuesday, April 8, 7:30 p.m., Carroll Auditorium, Madeleva Hall.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Saint Mary's sophomore softball player Jillian Busfield was selected to the All-Central Region First Team as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Professors Committed to Community Theater (South Bend Tribune)
Saint Mary's College professors Mark Abram-Copenhaver and Bill Svelmoe offer much of their free time to community theater. Abram-Copenhaver, associate professor of theatre, directs productions at the College and the South Bend Civic Theatre. He helped Svelmoe, professor of history, discover her had an unknown talent for acting. Svelmoe acts in plays on and off campus. They are an example of professors who go "Beyond the Campus" and make a difference in the community.

“Pink Party Zumbathon” Hosted by Students' Stand Up to Cancer Club...
Want to raise money for cancer research while getting in a workout? The Saint Mary’s College student club SMC Stands Up to Cancer will host its 3rd annual “Pink Party Zumbathon” on Saturday, November 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Angela Athletic Facility and will feature more than 20 local Zumba instructors who will take turns teaching. The public is invited to take part. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink and dance for this great cause.
