Outstanding Graduating CAT Scholar Award Katie Klinker '13 has successfully completed all 600 hours of service and will be “graduating” from the CAT Scholar Program. She is a Senior Elementary Education major who has a special heart for children for whom English is a new language. Katie has worked tirelessly in the CAT Program since 2010 as a teacher’s assistant and after school tutor at Coquillard Traditional School. In the summer of 2011, Katie helped facilitate our Summer School Program at McKinley Primary Center acting as a teacher. In addition to her work with children, Katie has also helped with Rebuilding Together, service events at Dismas House, 12 Days of Christmas, Bells for Belles, and the Pen Pal Program. Patricia Arch Green Award Shelby Cornett '13 is the 2012-2013 Patricia Arch Green Award recipient due to her outstanding dedication to the CAT Program and CAT activities. Shelby became involved with the CAT Program in her sophomore year as a CAT Scholar, working in the classrooms as a teacher’s assistant and after school with third and fourth graders as a tutor. Even after completing over 600 hours of service as a CAT Scholar, Shelby returned to the CAT Program as a volunteer, contributing many more hours as a teacher’s assistant, after-school tutor, and pen pal.
