Business Course Students Help Local Bakery (WSBT-TV)
This spring, an experiential business course at Saint Mary’s called Organizational Behavior paired three students with the owner of South Bend’s Dainty Maid Bakery. Dave Hab, who’s almost 80, turned to the 20-somethings for marketing advice. The bakery is already a favorite in town but Hab wondered how to reach college students. Sarah Feeley '13, Kaley Braunsdorf '13, and Katherine Thompson '13 surveyed customers and came up with a report full of suggestions. The class, taught by Mark Bradford, is an example of what the College does Beyond the Campus to make a difference in the South Bend area.

Keeping Holiday Spending in Check (WNDU-TV)
The holiday shopping season brings out the best and worst in us. We love the thought of giving to those we love, but often tend to over spend, digging ourselves into a financial hole. The average American will spend more than $700 on Christmas and Hanukkah gifts. And that amount could go up, as the National Retail Federation predicts a strong holiday retail forecast for this year. Joyce Hicks, associate professor of business and marketing who teaches a popular financial literacy course, shared ways to prepare financially for the holiday season.
