U.S. Program Encourages Foreign Female Students to Dream Big (Chronicl...
Saint Mary’s College hosted a U.S. Department of State Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders on Women’s Leadership for 20 undergraduate women from Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Mongolia, and Burma (Myanmar) June 16 to July 20. The Chronicle of Higher Education featured the College’s institute in an article titled “U.S. Program Encourages Foreign Female Students to Dream Big.”

Christmas at Loretto to Ring in the Holidays
The South Bend Chamber Singers, an ensemble-in-residence at Saint Mary’s College, is proud to present Christmas at Loretto as part of its 25th concert season. This annual holiday concert always draws a large crowd. For this special anniversary year, the ensemble will revisit many of its favorite Christmas commissioned works from past years, and introduce a new one by American composer Susan LaBarr.

Political science professor Patrick Pierce, a nationally sought-after expert on state lotteries and government, was interviewed for a newspaper story about a shift in the statute that governs the education lottery in North Carolina. Lawmakers would strip the statute of the language that directs how the money is spent.

Students Host Diverse Students' Leadership Conference
The 8th Annual Student’s Diverse Students' Leadership Conference (DSLC), hosted by the Saint Mary’s College Student Diversity Board (SDB), will be held on Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20. This year’s DSLC theme is, “From Awareness to Action.” The purpose of DSLC is to enrich each participant’s perspective on the adversities and benefits within diverse academic, social and professional settings. DSLC provides a way to promote issues concerning diversity and aims to inspire participants to become catalysts for change in their communities.

Campuses and Organizations to Host Take Back the Night Activities, Apr...
In honor of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, members of the Michiana community are invited to raise awareness and break the silence surrounding violence and abuse by attending a Take Back the Night event on Thursday, April 25. Saint Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University South Bend, and S-O-S, the rape crisis center for St. Joseph County, will hold their three annual events on the same evening, a date set by the National Take Back the Night Foundation.
