Seminar on HIV Research by Saint Mary's Alumna Saint Mary’s College is proud to welcome back to campus Mary Anne Luzar ’72, PhD, Chief of the Regulatory Affairs Branch, Division of AIDS, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health. Chamber Children’s Choir Auditions Auditions will be held on Saturday, November 17 for the Chamber Children’s Choir, which is affiliated with the South Bend Chamber Singers (SBCS), the region’s premier vocal chamber ensemble. Young singers in grades 3 through 8 are invited to the audition, which will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in room 114 of Moreau Center for the Arts at Saint Mary’s College. Professor/Associate Dean of Faculty Honored with Spes Unica Award Saint Mary’s College President Carol Ann Mooney presented Joseph Incandela, associate dean of faculty and professor of religious studies, with the Spes Unica Award at Honors Convocation on Sunday, May 6. The Spes Unica Award recognizes a faculty member’s eminent service to Saint Mary’s College. Contributions can be in the area of teaching, scholarship/ creative activity and/or service. Saint Mary’s College Welcomes New Trustees Saint Mary’s College welcomes six new members to the Board of Trustees, including the Alumnae Board president and a student trustee. Elected to the Board for the first time are Thomas E. Black, Jr., Michael R. Leep, Sr., Sister Mary Ann Pajakowski, CSC ’69, and Monsignor Kenneth Velo. They will serve three-year terms. Alyssa Vinluan ’13 was appointed as the student trustee, a one-year term. As the new Alumnae Board president, Karen McNamara Weaver ’91 will sit on the Board of Trustees for two years. Belles Earn All-Academic Team Honor NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Saint Mary's cross country team was one of 187 Division III women's cross country teams to earn All-Academic Team Honors as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on February 15. Art Students Create Robots with Engineering Students This semester nine art students enrolled in Hoefle’s sculpture class Beyond the Object had the opportunity to be paired with University of Notre Dame engineering and computer science students to build robotic toys (a.k.a. electronic sculptures). It is the first time students from the two campuses have come together in this way. Six teams will present their robots Saturday, April 14 at a public event celebrating National Robotics Week.
